Wonderful Wildflowers

July 14, 2010 - Posted in Uncategorized

Don’t miss out on the stunning natural beauty of our wildflowers, thousands of Eastern staters make the migration each year for it. WA’s mid west region is teaming with colour from late July until September. You could base yourself in Geraldton or Greenough or stay at Mullewa, Mingenew, Perenjori or Dalwallinu, which all have campgrounds. These towns plus Wubin put on a show not to be missed. Expect to see a blanket of colour with the banksias, grevilleas, kangaroo paws, feather flowers, starflowers, smoke bushes and eucalypts as far as the eye can see. Once you are up that far north there is always Kalbarri not far away and usually a few degrees warmer than in Perth too.

Moore River

June 8, 2008 - Posted in Uncategorized

What a great spot and so close to Perth. The long weekend was spent in the sun and sand surrounded by people relaxing in their various types of camping accommodation at the well set up Guilderton Caravan Park on the banks of the Moore River. Whilst the days were mainly sunny a storm did hit on Saturday night, it poured down! Our camper trailer and annex remained dry as a bone and surprisingly warm.

The river broke into the sea Sunday morning. It obviously doesn’t happen very often given that it was the talk of the caravan park. Not being one to miss out on an event, I grabbed my cuppa and jacket and headed to the mouth of the river. The shallows that we were fishing in the day before were now exposed rippled sand and the sandbar we played on was a gushing river. None of this stopped the many kids from having a ball on the new landscape.

I highly recommend a trip to Guilderton/Moore River. A naturally beautiful place that is refreshingly uncommercialised.
